Wednesday June 28 - Ronda

 In the morning we were awakened early by the bells of the goats being taken to pasture.  

Today was a day to relax, reading and using the very cold pool (at 65 °F).

Bought meat from a local market and had sandwiches for lunch.  

A highlight was the Cueva de la Pileta, a nearby, privately owned cave.  On the drive to the cave. 

We waited 45 minutes for the tour – very informal.  Tours go on the hour or whenever enough people show up.  It was a one-hour tour with the tourists carrying kerosene lanterns for lighting.  The cave has some incredible Neolithic cave paintings that are over 25,000 years old.  It also had the usual allotment of stalagmites and stalactites. We were impressed.  The area used to be near the ocean.  Paintings included of fish and seals, as well as horses and other four-footed animals.  

Josh was only marginally interested in the drawings, a bit more in the cave, but mostly in swimming when we returned to the hotel.  Dinner was again sandwiches in our room - peanut butter and jelly or tuna.

We could hear the bells on the goats when they returned around 9pm.
